Burrer Precision Level I

Job Summary:

The Burrer Precision is responsible for adjustment and operation of deburring tools and performs methods of inspecting parts to assure conformance to blueprint specifications and manufacturing operator’s instructions.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs precision deburring operations using rotary and manual hand tools to achieve required edge breaks, corner radii, blended surfaces, and surface finishes while maintaining dimensional tolerances and other product requirements.

  • Operates under borescope or microscope to inspect and process parts of varying sizes, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

  • Interprets and applies blueprint specifications and technical drawings to meet product requirements.

  • Executes recurring tasks including sandblasting, micro-blasting, edge blending, tumble deburring, and light internal diameter (ID) grinding/blending.

  • Identifies and reports out-of-family and out-of-specification conditions using hand gages, scopes, and related inspection tools; visually distinguishes finished edge conditions. Documents non-conformances when required.

  • Proactively escalates safety and quality concerns to team leads, supervisors, or technical team members for timely resolution.

  • Selects and utilizes appropriate hand tools with minimal guidance to consistently achieve blueprint conditions.

  • Maintains compliance with safety standards, including proper use of PPE and adherence to all company safety protocols.

  • Ensures cleanliness and contamination control by maintaining an organized and clean work area

  • Collaborates with adjacent operations and flexes to other processes as needed to support workflow and ensure first-time quality.

  • Accurately documents inspection results and process adjustments in accordance with company quality standards and AS9100/ISO requirements.

  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance deburring techniques, reduce cycle time, and improve product quality.

  • Maintains focus and dexterity during extended microscope work, demonstrating attention to detail and precision.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 1-2 years of equivalent industry experience is preferred. Exposure to working under magnification (borescope, microscope, digital displace) desired.

  • Knowledge: Basic knowledge of rotary and manual deburring tools, familiarity with adjustments required to maintain and use rotary and manual deburring tools. Understanding of common inspection gaging and equipment.

  • Skills/Abilities: Ability to read and interpret basic blueprint requirements and technical documents. Ability to use alternate tooling or work holding devices under guidance. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently routine tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent

  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Burrer Precision Level II

Job Summary:

The Burrer Precision II is responsible for the set-up and operation of deburring tools and performs methods of inspecting parts to assure conformance to blueprint specifications and manufacturing operator’s instructions.

Essential Functions:

  • Set-Up and Operation: Performs set-up, tear-down, and precise adjustment of rotary and manual hand tools to achieve required edge breaks, corner radii, blended surfaces, and surface finishes while maintaining blueprint specifications and quality standards.

  • Precision Material Removal: Executes accurate material removal in deep bores, intersect points, and adjacent to metering edges to maintain critical blueprint characteristics. Demonstrates proficiency with softer materials and alloys, including aluminum.

  • Process Development and Improvement: Collaborates with technical teams to develop new techniques, modify tools, and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and product quality.

  • Task Organization and Standardization: Organizes and assigns tasks, develops standard work procedures, and performs operations such as sandblasting, micro blasting, tumble deburring, ID grinding, internal edge breaks, and radii execution for manifolds, bodies, or castings. Reads and interprets blueprints accurately.

  • Inspection and Verification: Utilizes advanced gaging and scoping techniques to verify product conformity and ensure process capability, maintaining zero-defect standards.

  • Safety and Compliance: Adheres to all safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and company quality standards. Proactively escalates safety and quality concerns to team leads, supervisors, or technical team members.

  • Training and Mentorship: Assists in training new associates on techniques, tool selection, and best practices to support business needs and reduce strain or repetitive motion risks.

  • Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Prevention: Provides feedback and troubleshooting to mitigate FOD-related risks; coaches Level 1 associates on proper handling and prevention practices.

  • Cross-Functional Support: Flexes to adjacent operations as needed to maintain process flow and ensure first-time quality. Actively identifies opportunities to improve quality and reduce cycle time.

  • Continuous Improvement: Participates in Lean and Six Sigma initiatives, contributing ideas and actions to enhance efficiency, safety, and product excellence.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in working with scopes for precision burring of internal holes and cross sections. Proven track record of handling complex deburring operations and tight tolerances. Experience mentoring and guiding junior team members

  • Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of rotary and manual burring tools, including specialized tooling for unique applications. Proficiency in modifying and developing tooling solutions for unique applications. Highly capable with precise gaging practices and more advanced inspection equipment.

  • Skills/Abilities: Ability to read and interpret complex blueprint characteristics, technical documents. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve tooling and work holding challenges. Strong problem solving skills, creativity, team engagement, and drive for improvement

  • Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent

  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

  • Essential duties require frequent reaching above shoulder level, standing, walking, working around moving machinery and manual dexterity for handling small parts

Hourly Ranges for Burrer Precision Level I and II. The level of the position will be determined based on the candidates experience and qualifications

Burrer Precision Level I: $25.00/hourly to $32.00/hourly

Burrer Precision Level II: $34.00/hourly to $43.00/hourly
