Position Summary
The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for developing and executing inventory control strategies, managing a team, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and collaborating cross-functionally to enhance inventory accuracy and storage operations. This role involves reporting and presenting findings to internal stakeholders and the customer, while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inventory Management & Team Leadership
• Oversee daily operations of the Inventory team to ensure achievement of inventory accuracy goals.
• Analyze and resolve inventory discrepancies and systemic issues.
• Generate, review, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) daily.
• Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
Behind Schedule Parts & Takt Time Management
• Lead the analysis and resolution of missing or delayed parts in alignment with takt time deadlines.
• Ensure timely delivery of overdue parts and parts behind schedule.
• Identify root causes of delays and coordinate with CSR, Inventory, 1st Flow, and Inbound teams to implement preventative actions and process improvements.
Reporting & Analytics
• Design, update, and maintain reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
• Deliver detailed failure analyses and follow-up action plans.
• Present findings and performance reports to internal leadership and customers.
System & Data Optimization
• Support cross-functional teams in resolving system-related inventory issues.
• Analyze system processes to identify and report inefficiencies.
• Partner with external IS teams to support system updates and enhancements.
Strategic Development & Continuous Improvement
• Develop a rolling six-month cycle count schedule.
• Revamp the cycle count process to improve efficiency, visibility, and accuracy.
• Define and track updated KPIs for inventory control.
• Identify recurring discrepancies and collaborate with other departments to implement systemic improvements.
Qualifications & Requirements
• 3–5 years of experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), SAP preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets (complex formulas, pivot tables required; macros preferred).
• Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers.
• Demonstrated expertise in root cause analysis and problem-solving.
• Proven ability to collaborate across teams and follow through on action plans.
• Project management experience preferred.
• High attention to detail with a methodical, precise approach.
• Comfortable navigating complex system environments.
Physical Demands
• Ability to walk, stand for prolonged periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Travel Requirements
• 10–15 local travel between Mobile, Irvington, and Theodore, AL locations.
