Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) is seeking a Staff Engineer Systems Architect. This position is located at Linthicum / Annapolis Junction, MD.
What You’ll get to Do:
- Develop system level roadmaps capturing the advancement of MDA and other relevant technologies.
- Work with the customer, partner, and supplier communities to develop the system conceptual systems leading to major program milestones / reviews (e.g., SRR, SFR, SDR, PDR, CDR).
- Identify risks and opportunities on the path to successful system demonstration and employment.
- Coordinate between the Chief Engineer, SEIT Lead, Product Team Lead(s), program manager, and customer to ensure the integrity and executability of the program technical baseline.
- Design and development of system architectures and definition of key capabilities and performance requirements.
- Ensure the systematic conversion of customer or product needs into total systems solutions.
- Support capture activities, including RFI/RFP preparation, customer presentations and demonstrations, and competitor analysis.
- Perform functional analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements development and allocation, and interface definition studies translating customer needs into hardware and software requirements and specifications.
- Maintain knowledge of current and developing technologies and developing strategies for their insertion into both legacy and next-generation applications.
- Developing a roadmap from existing tools, processes, and efforts towards a program specific implementation of optimized engineering and programmatic processes.
- Perform analysis-of-alternatives to lead to a cohesive program solution.
- Lead a team to implement the roadmap, hand in hand with program management and technical leads.
- Document the non-recurring efforts to enable a digital landscape and working with program team to deliver the system.
- Educate leads, customers, and engineers on the program’s digital vision, and how it will enable lower recurring engineering in long term.
This position is contingent on clearance.
This position will serve on-site in Linthicum / Annapolis Junction, MD.
Basic Qualifications of Staff Systems Architect:
- Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of experience, a Masters degree in a STEM discipline with 10 years of experience or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 8 years of experience.
- Be self-directed and able to envision the end state of the product and take initiative to drive product development to closure.
- Ability to capture core concepts and instructional needs from a large amount of technical data (CMOS Digital Technology and Custom hardware) and communicate technical concepts to an audience of non-subject matter experts with varying levels of domain experience.
- Experience with developing and presenting briefing slides to senior leaders and executive level personnel.
- Demonstrated experience architecting systems through functional decomposition.
- 4 Years experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (SysML) utilizing Cameo Enterprise Architect.
- Demonstrated ability to think at the system level.
- Experience in evaluating future and helping plan & transitioning efforts at the systems for Engineering Manufacturing & Development (EMD).
- Minimum of 3 years in evaluating and planning for integration and test at the systems level.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Clearance: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance per customer requirements .
Preferred Qualifications of Staff Systems Architect:
- Active DOD TS/SCI Clearance with Poly
- Experience in evaluating, planning, & transitioning systems through EMD
- Experience managing contracts of $10M+
- Ability to architect with MBSE and tie analysis products to model behavior.
- Understanding of system delivery lifecycle, CDRLs, and the interplay between various national security customers and products.
- Knowledge of programmatic financial deliveries as an IPT lead, CAM, or deputy PM, with delivering EVMS data or participating in IPRs, PMRs, or IBRs.
- Demonstrated experience taking a system from concept through integrated test.
- Risk and Opportunity Management experience.
- Demonstrated Experience with Systems Development Lifecycle, Focus on SRR to CDR.
- 6 Years experience with Cameo Enterprise Architect.
- Multi-Disciplinary Engineering exposure (Software, Hardware, Electrical) and strong ability to communicate cross functionally.
Salary Range: $163,200.00 - $256,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
