The Advanced Networking Solutions engineering organization, located in St. Petersburg, FL, is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our systems engineering team as onsite Production Chief Engineer for the Advanced Networking Solutions product line area. This is an onsite position and requires an active Secret security clearance.
The Production Chief Engineer for Advanced Networking Solutions is responsible for overseeing the technical direction, development, and execution of the portfolio of production and sustainment programs. This role involves leading teams of engineering and program staff, as well as working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of program objectives. The Production Chief Engineer is responsible for the technical integrity of new build and sustainment efforts ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety goals and objectives are met. Key responsibilities include managing technical risks, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, and driving innovation to meet the evolving needs of defense and aerospace customers. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective relationship with internal and customer counterparts, including applicable technical leads and individuals holding oversight responsibility. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive experience in production-related activities, and an understanding of defense technologies as they relate to anti-air warfare, real-time communications and security technologies.
What You Will Do:
Provide overall technical direction and leadership for the business area production activities, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and customer requirements; Leads and mentors teams of engineers and production staff, fostering collaboration and innovation
Ensure technical integrity and engineering execution across the program’s engineering organization and other functions to meet and/or exceed cost, schedule, and technical requirements
Oversee the improvement of production processes and capabilities to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity; Ensures that all products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements through rigorous testing and quality control measures
Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, addressing their needs and ensuring their satisfaction with the programs deliverables; Drives the development and implementation of new technologies and processes to improve production capabilities and efficiencies
Closely collaborate with program management to ensure that production activities are completed on time and within budget; Identifies, assesses, and mitigates technical risks throughout the project lifecycle to ensure successful program execution
Drive positive change within the production environment as a key stakeholder in Failure Review Boards, FRACAS activities and other continuous improvement efforts
Technically engage with major subcontractors and partners to ensure product deliverables
Direct a team of multi-discipline engineers in support of issue resolution
Support the capture of new business including proposal writing and execution and influence technical and product line roadmaps, ensuring they are reflected in program planning and execution
Qualifications You Must Have:
Experience in a senior technical leadership role to include experience across the development lifecycle (i.e. systems, subsystems).
Experience leading and conducting trade studies, system development and design, systems requirements development and management, system integration and test, and/or production support
Experience as a technical leader developing work plans and driving execution in an engineering environment
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
Active and transferrable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start
U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills
Experience in leading and executing the design and development of complex system architectures – recognized as a change agent, energizing organizations to achieve beyond expectations
Demonstrated experience across the product lifecycle, including concept development, architecture, design, integration, verification, production, and sustainment
Proven ability to develop effective customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and continued business
Prior experience with Cooperative Engagement Capability products or other anti-air warfare and/or real-time communications products
Direct experience with Risk and Opportunities (R&O) management
Requires expert knowledge of multiple work areas typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience
Expert knowledge of spanet with the ability to identify best practices and how to best utilize within RTX

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
