BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) in Ohio is looking for scientists and engineers skilled in signal processing across a number of phenomenologies (Image, RF/Radar, Multi/Hyper-spectral). This person will help our customers both on-site (NASIC and AFRL) and well as in our Fairborn office for customers nationwide – developing algorithms, performing analysis, and conducting trade studies. This role is focused on developing the next generation of technical leadership in BAE Systems.
The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. What You’ll Do:
- Implement signal processing techniques relevant to spatial and/or temporal signals from advanced sensors (e.g. radar, non-literal video, literal imaging, …).
- Conduct trade studies using tools like AFSIM or other GOTS and COTS tools.
- Perform intelligence analysis.
- Create new automated processing based on customer needs and project requirements.
- Validate work against real and simulated data – making corrections for non-ideal data artifacts.
- Document performance metrics for use by software developers, scientists, and customers.
- Apply knowledge and skills on non-routine projects.
- Contribute to the completion of project milestones.
- Collaborate in an R&D team environment.
- Interact with colleagues at any level.
- Assist in preparing presentations and documents.
- Develop, optimize, test, evaluate, and integrate scientific algorithms using high-level computing languages (typically Python, MATLAB).
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
